About Us
What we do
The Anglo-American Reptile Research Lab focuses on improving captive reptile welfare. We achieve this goal by exploring how captive conditions affect the behavior, health and welfare of captive pet reptiles
Welcome to the Anglo-American Reptile Research Lab, where our mission is to advance the understanding and welfare of reptiles through innovative research, education, and community engagement.
Founded and directed by Professor Erin Rickman, our lab is dedicated to exploring the complex behaviors, welfare needs, and cognitive capabilities of reptiles, particularly focusing on species such as Madagascan Day Geckos and Crested Geckos. By enhancing our knowledge of these fascinating creatures, we can improve their care in captivity and contribute to conservation efforts in their natural habitats.
In addition to our research endeavors, we engage with the community through educational programs, outreach initiatives, and partnerships with institutions like zoos and universities. Our outreach efforts focus on raising awareness about the needs of reptiles in captivity to give the best welfare outcomes. We regularly host workshops, seminars, and public events to share our findings and foster a love for reptile care among enthusiasts and pet owners
At the Anglo-American Reptile Research Lab, we are committed to advancing knowledge and promoting the health and well-being of reptiles in both captive and wild settings. We invite you to join us in our journey to make a positive impact on the lives of these incredible animals.
